George Henry is the director of the Druids Glen Golf Academy. He has been the teaching professional at Druids Glen since 2002 and has been a PGA Professional since 1992. Since qualifying, George has specialized in helping golfers of all levels improve their game. He has studied under teaching greats John Jacobs and Irish National Coach Howard Bennett. For five years, he worked with the Irish national Boys and Youths Teams during their winter training camps and has worked with European Tour players Wayne Westner and Michael Campbell.
Always enthusiastic when it comes to teaching the game, George Henry's teaching philosophy is based on simplicity, clear communication, and improvement in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. George is an accomplished player having finished runner-up and leading Irishman in the Irish Assistants Championship in 1995.
George recently travelled to Houston, Texas to train to become Ireland's first coach for The First Tee Program, which provides an opportunity for young people from all backgrounds to learn how to play the game.
“I have done a lot of work with young people but it was always with elite golfers whose only concern was to lower their scores,” said Henry. “This program is more about extolling the values that the game has to offer and helping to create better people, not simply better players. I find that exciting. It is a wonderful program for Druids Glen and the local community.” For more details, contact George Henry: 00 353 (0) 86 8179 747 or E-mail here.
